On Thursday 27 June, Ballajura Community College was fortunate to have a new Buddy Bench installed near Student Services and Main Administration.
Kindly donated by the Rotary Club of Ballajura Malaga and the Rotary Club of Morley with support from the Men’s Shed Bassendean, it is hoped that the installation of the Buddy Bench will promote a stronger, more inclusive community by helping to reduce anxieties and feelings of loneliness for students.
If a student feels alone, or simply wants to talk to someone, they’re encouraged to sit on the Buddy Bench which sends a gentle signal to their peers and staff to approach, engage in conversation and listen. This may reduce feelings of loneliness, isolation, and anxiety.
The Buddy Bench is a wonderful initiative and one that we hope leads to positive and meaningful conversations moving forward. We’d like to thank everyone involved in this project.
