Congratulations to students Quenlyn and Mitchell, two aspiring chefs who attended the National Secondary Schools Culinary Competition (NSSCC) in Adelaide from September 20-22.
The trip was a tremendous success, with Quenlyn and Mitchell enjoying their time learning about cooking and hospitality, exploring Adelaide, and ultimately earning a Bronze Medal in the competition.
Each team prepared one dish, using local Indigenous ingredients like quandongs, lemon myrtle, and saltbush to complement their chicken roulade.
The boys also had the chance to participate in a dessert cooking master class led by one of the NSSCC judges, enjoy a cheese tasting in the Adelaide Hills, and a tour the historic Adelaide Markets.
Special thanks to Cath MacDougall from” Prepare Produce Provide” for organising the trip, and to Chef Tanya Healy for coaching the boys on their cooking skills leading up to the competition.
Hospitality & Living teacher Samara Burgess was also instrumental in helping the boys create their own recipe from scratch and prepare their dish to competition standards.
It was a great pleasure to accompany Mitchell and Quenlyn on such a life-changing adventure.
