Vocational Education and Training (VET) is a different way of learning that prepares students to meet the demands of the 21st century workplace. Through VET, students develop industry specific skills and knowledge, gain practical experience and learn to use literacy and numeracy in a work context. This ensures students are ready to successfully transition to further education, training or employment.

VET qualifications are designed in collaboration with industry experts to ensure that the skills and knowledge taught are up to date and relevant to current job markets and industry needs.

VET qualifications are nationally recognised and contribute to the Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE). Many BCC students have been acknowledged by the School Curriculum and Standards Authority (SCSA), winning Certificates of Excellence for their VET achievements. Others have used their VET qualifications to pursue pathways to becoming qualified tradespeople, business owners and university graduates.

Year 11 and 12 students at BCC can engage in:

  • VET courses delivered at the College by qualified trainers;
  • VET Delivered to Secondary Students at TAFEs and private RTOs;
  • School based apprenticeships or traineeships, combining off-the-job training with paid employment;
  • Workplace Learning to support the application of VET skills and knowledge.

Our Careers & VET team supports students in exploring VET options, with a range of resources available in our dedicated Careers Centre.

At BCC, we have a dedicated training restaurant serviced by a fully equipped, industry standard commercial kitchen to support the delivery of courses such as barista skills and different meal services undertaken in the hospitality industry. We also have a dedicated Trade Training Centre onsite comprising of a purpose-built, construction trade training workshop with extensive undercover work areas.
