At Ballajura Community College we offer a well-established and successful Accelerated Curriculum Enrichment (ACE) Program. This program provides an engaging and rigorous curriculum designed to extend the breadth and depth of students’ learning.
Students in Year 7 are selected for the ACE program based on their performance in the General Aptitude Test and their progress is supervised by the ACE coordinator. This highly competitive and extremely popular program is intended for students seeking a suitable educational pathway which will articulate into university at the conclusion of Year 12.
Student selection into the ACE program in Years 8 – 10 is based on demonstrated academic ability across Mathematics, English, Science and Humanities. ACE students are also required to have an excellent attitude towards learning and a strong work ethic.
The ACE program is very select, and places are limited. It is therefore imperative that each student selected into the program maintains the very highest standards of academic progress, work ethic and attitude towards schooling, to ensure that they are able to continue within the program.
Students within the ACE program may also participate in the Basketball Excellence Program and/or the Music Excellence Program, depending on each student’s individual strengths.
Aims of the ACE Program
A significant aim of the ACE Program is to extend students and accelerate them to a higher academic level, ultimately resulting in each student reaching their academic potential. This will assist in placing students in the best possible position to enter university courses of their choice at the conclusion of their Year 12 studies.
As such, once students enter the ACE program their progress is closely monitored throughout their high school career.
