Baringiny Moorditj Ballajura (making and becoming a strong Ballajura): Coming together and sharing, celebrating and learning about culture.

We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the Land that we gather on, the Wadjuk people of the Noongar Nation. We pay our respects to Elders past, past and emerging and acknowledge and respect their continuing culture.

The Polly Farmers Follow the Dream program is an aspirational academic support program for First Nations students.

Run across Western Australia by the Polly Farmer Foundation, the program sets high academic expectations for all students invited to join the program, and then supports the growth and success of these students by providing:

  • Career pathways support for Year 11 and 12s, including internships, scholarships and fellowships.
  • Weekly after school tutoring sessions with teachers and university students mentors.
  • Cultural excursions with Nyoongar elders guiding us across country.

Students experience a range of activities that enrich learning and broaden horizons.  The program helps students explore post-school study and career options, connect with and celebrate their culture and supports their development of the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in the classroom.

Led by our program coordinator, Ben Edwards, and our Aboriginal and Islander Education Officer (AIEO) Darylene Narrier, the program encourages students to ‘Dream Big’ with purpose and in a setting that creates a sense of belonging. On completion of school, Polly Farmers Follow The Dream students are well prepared to identify as leaders and role models amongst their peers, families and communities.

The BCC Polly Farmers Follow the Dream program has a long history of success, ranging from interstate trips to student camps on country.  Many Follow the Dream alumni have been multiple-award winners whilst at the college, and then gone on to receive scholarships and fellowships after graduation.

If you are an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander student, and you’re keen to connect to your culture whilst realising your full potential, then you should enrol now to join the Polly Farmers Follow the Dream team!
