Good Samaritan Industries (GSI) awarded a 2018 Student Scholarship to Ballajura Community College student Chad Shilling during an event at their premises in Canning Vale on November 30.
Since 2013, GSI has awarded 114 scholarships to Western Australian students with disabilities.
The scholarship is valued at $1,000 and will enable Chad to access further training or equipment he needs to help him get a job.
Chad finished Year 12 this year and was invited to attend the formal awards ceremony to receive his scholarship in front of family and friends. As well as presentations, the event included a tour of the recycling plant and morning tea.
John Knowles, GSI Chief Executive Officer, congratulated Ballajura Community College on its endeavor to ensure successful pathways into the workplace for students with disability.
“Your valued support for the Good Samaritan Industries’ 2018 Student Scholarships adds strength to this rewarding and worthwhile endeavour to increase our capacity to provide meaningful paid employment for people with disabilities, thereby giving them an opportunity to participate in the mainstream of life enjoying the resources, dignity and inner strength that comes with earning a living.”
